Theme

In 1932, Piggott hosted the World Premiere of A FAREWELL TO ARMS. Anxious to recapture the notoriety, Ernest Hemingway sought new experiences to generate fresh concepts and new material. Enter, “Uncle Gus” Pfeiffer, with a monetary gift to finance a three-month African Safari. Events from the 1933 Safari would later be recorded in various Hemingway novels and short stories, including THE GREEN HILLS OF AFRICA, THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARO, and even THE SHORT HAPPY LIFE OF FRANCIS MACOMBER. This room is designed to capture that adventurous experience.
